Rivers was born September 24, 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee.  She graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1979, and attended Memphis State University graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in December 1983.  She studied under Harris Sorrell in sculpture, Jim Watkins in Design, and Brack Walker in design and painting.  She has had 10 one-woman shows and participated in 10 group shows between the years 1981 and 2022.  She worked at a print shop upon graduation and went on to create medical illustrations for Campbell’s Clinic from February 1985 to January 1986.  She was featured in the last printing of the Memphis Press Scimitar in August 1983.  She recently completed a successful show with the Coliseum Art Gallery in March 2022, with a new show in November & December 2022..  Currently, a free- lance, Rivers does portraits of family and pets on commission.
